Braving the cold
The meteorologist had issued a winter weather advisory in effect for the town of Canton. She stood by the window sill, warm coffee mug in hand, and admired the dense foliage that had frosted over last night. There was a sense of calmness and tranquility outside that she wished would flow over into her life.
But her life was a far cry from the picturesque view outside. It had been 5 years since it started, and every day after that. Every night, she would go to bed, assuring herself that tomorrow would be better. Every night, she convinced herself that she endured this today, but would fight back tomorrow . Every night, she would hope her wounds would have healed by the morning. They rarely every did.
She stood there in silence contemplating her decision. She had no money, no job, and no degree to her name. Yet, she gathered whatever strength she could muster up, and picked up her bag of small belongings and walked out into the frigid cold.

She has made a brace decision, and hopefully the tide will change in her favour. Good writing.
A brave woman. A great story. Written well enough that I want to pray for her…and to hear that she’s doing all right. 🙂
I wonder about her. I like the mixture of despair and hope.

Smart lady and brave. Great job.
Very well written and since I like “they lived happily ever after” stories I will hope that this is the beginning of a new and better future.
