What Would She Do? Real-life Stories of 25 Rebel Women Who Changed The World
Are you looking for a book that packs a feminine punch? This one is it!
As parents, it is imperative to empower young minds (girls and boys alike) with books that showcase the women who have made a difference in this world. I recently came across ‘What Would She Do’? by Kay Woodward and would highly recommend picking it up! This book is filled with awe-inspiring gorgeous illustrations and stories that would want you to savor every wordl!
This inspirational book takes us on a journey of 25 remarkable women from all walks of life and from different parts of the globe. It has historical figures like Amelia Earhart and Harriet Tubman to contemporary trailblazing women like Emma Watson, Malala Yousafzai and Michelle Obama. This book shares with us their stories of bravery, courage and fabulous achievements that have made a significant impact on the world.
Some of the women featured in this book are fairly well-known. But I came across some new names, I had not heard of before! One of them was Murasaki Shikibu who was the author of the first novel ever written and the Vietnamese Trúng Sisters who lead the rebellion against China. I had never read their stories before, and it was an enlightening read for my daughter and I.
Have you ever wondered what Rosa Parks would do if she was left out of a whataspp group that everyone in class was a part of? Or what Marie Curie would do if she had a big test at school? At the end of each section, this book presents us with a scenario that most girls deal with today and ponders on what these remarkable women would do in a similar situation.
The author writes these short biographical sections with a natural story telling ability. The language is casual, almost like someone is talking to you, which I am sure the young readers will appreciate. These stories hope to empower and inspire the youth of today and is a must read for the young feminist in your family.
This book is available for purchase on Amazon.
I had the opportunity to ask Kay Woodward some questions for my readers. Read about that here!
Until next time!
Happy Reading!
