Stand Up, Stand Out !

It’s never too early to stand up, speak out to help bring about change!
Xiuhtezcatl Martinez is a youth director who has been fighting for climate change for over a decade. Malala Yousafzai started talking about girl’s education when she was just 11! Standing up for what you believe in takes courage and a certain degree of tenacity. Why not share books with the younger minds that will inspire confidence and have them think about the great figures in history that stood up for what they believed in. After all, a book can have such a lasting impression on kids! Shouldn’t we try to put the right books in their hands?

This gorgeous and vibrant book caught my eye immediately with the sketches of inspirational figures on the book cover! This book is written by Kay Woodward who is also the author behind ‘What would she do?’ which is a fantastic book to raise awareness about the great women in our world.

Stand up, Stand out, follows a similar format to her previous book and showcases 25 brave men and women who stood up for what they believed in. It is written with the young reader in mind and the narrative is engaging and inspirational.
The book share stories of Spartacus, Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, George Orwell, Stephen Hawking and Muhammad Ali – just to name a few!

A Look Inside

Each profile concludes with an everyday scenario for the reader and suggests ways to show bravery and how to stand up for injustice!

At the very end of the book, there is a fun quiz. Answer some multiple choice questions, to see which fabulous person you are most like! My children loved doing these quizzes and seeing which inspirational rebel hero they may be like!

If you are looking for an inspirational read for your children – this one shouldn’t be missed! Thank you Carlton Books for sending this my way!
