Planning out summer vacations can get a bit tricky in our household. We had to juggle work schedules, the kids camp sessions, and back to school dates. But as we did that, one thing became realistically clear. I would have to be spending a good portion of our family vacation by myself! Without the family. A solo vacation. Let that just sink in for just a bit.

Catherine had wanted to get away for a while. Her life had become an endless succession of disappointments, making it a breeding ground for anxiety, anguish and uncertainty.
She managed to book a quaint rustic cottage in rural Spain for the summer. As she arrived and made her way down the cobbled steps towards the shed, she felt a sense of calm prevail.
The antiquated desk was pushed back against the window. Catherine hesitantly opened the top right drawer to find an incomplete handwritten manuscript. She pulled up the chair, and sat to complete the story. It was her story.

I really struggle with trying to capture the essence of the story in 100 words, but quite enjoy the challenge.

Kate entered her apartment after finishing a rigorous 12 hour rotation at the hospital. She had completely immersed herself in the residency program, which didn’t leave time for much else.
She glanced at the left over pizza and wine on her dresser. He had probably waited for a while and then left – as always. A part of her wanted to call him back. But this evening she chose to be by herself and savor the solitude. These moments were hard to come by. She put on her favorite music, danced, indulged in pizza and wine. A perfect evening by her standards!
