Muhammara Dip

Muhammara is a traditional Syrain dip that is made with roasted red pepper and walnuts. Perhaps the best thing about this dip is that it is packed with flavor and super easy to make.

It is a perfect appetizer that can be served alongside hummus, mutabal, and perhaps a side salad. It pairs well with pita chips or a flatbread. Continue reading

Chicken & Broccoli Pasta with a Creamy Mushroom Sauce

Pasta is one of those versatile foods that you can create in many ways! Perhaps add in some marinara or alfredo sauce, veggies, or even cheese and it comes together beautifully for a substantial family meal. Pair it with a garden salad or some crusty garlic bread for that perfect meal. Pasta dishes are also great to take to potlucks and are loved by kids and adults alike!

Buffalo Chicken Bites

Buffalo chicken Bites Served with White Rice

This recipe is a family favorite in our home. The chicken comes out nice and crispy and it is paired with a tangy hot and sweet buffalo sauce. I serve it with white rice and my children love it!
Originally I had seen a version of this recipe on Chef Shireen Anwar’s cooking show, and have been making a close variation of it for many years.

Greek Salad with a Pomegranate Molasses Dressing

Image shows a close up of the greek salad

This colorful and vibrant salad that packs a crunch is perfect for the summer months. It comes together quickly and is literally one of those ‘chop and drop’ salads. They are extremely decadent, so having one will likely suffice. The recipe is from my all time favorite Sally’s Baking Addiction.

Favorite Broccoli Salad

Most broccoli salads I have tried use a good amount of mayo, making it heavy on the stomach and difficult to take to potlucks or keep out in the summers. This broccoli salad which I came across on Cookie and Kate is light, crunchy and perfect for the summers! This salad is best paired with a tangy honey mustard dressing that doesn’t over power the flavor and crunch of the broccoli.

We are fortunate enough to live in a great friendly neighborhood! This means that we are often the recipients of some delicious baked goodies – courtesy of some gracious neighbors. (Thanks Sabika!)

One such day, I received a slice of a extremely lush chocolate cheesecake. It was rich, decedent, and in essence a chocolate lovers dream!

I’ll share the recipe with you below and some pictures I took along the way. I’ll also add some tips that I use, to ensure the cheesecake doesn’t sink or have cracks. Don’t panic if you do, because the final step is covering the cake with a rich chocolate ganache!

I enjoy making these mini-desserts for parties we host at home. Inevitably, I end up getting carried away, and try out new combinations and old-time favorites. This results in needing over 50 shot glasses to serve this deliciousness in. So a special thanks to my awesome neighbor for always lending these to me, as a frantically whatsapp her at odd hours!
Here are my four favorite shot glass desserts to share with you. They are easy to put together and that one spoonful is enough to take you to dessert heaven!(Yes, that’s a place!) Continue reading
